Description
Injectable gonadotropins are the most effective fertility drugs for inducing ovulation and achieving pregnancy. These drugs are identical to the body’s natural fertility hormones, such as oestrogen, progesterone, luteinising hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). A combination of two or more of these medications is typically used during IVF. Although injectable gonadotropins are highly successful, they are also the most expensive and carry the highest risk of side effects. Therefore, doctors often – but not always – recommend trying other treatments before resorting to these powerful medications.
